DESCRIPTION

On a light blue disc two gold,fouled anchors in saltire surmounted by a shield blazoned: Per bend Azure and Gules a bend Celestebordered by two lightning flashes Argent. Above the shield on a torse of the colorsArgent and Azure, a gold pole star; within the outer ring are seventeen whitestars upon a dark blue sky. Below theshield on a blue scroll with red piping is the inscription, ANSWERING THECALL, SAVING LIVES, in white letters. Borderingthe light blue disc is a dark blue designation band inscribed STATION FAIRPORT at top and U.S. COAST GUARD below in goldletters, all encircled by a gold rope.


SYMBOLISM
The two lightning flashes represent the swift capabilities of Station Fairportsboats and crew. Red, white and blue arethe colors traditionally associated with the Coast Guard. The blue portion of the shield between thelightning bolts denotes the Stations location on the Grand River, Ohio. The pole star symbolizes patrol duties on LakeErie and search and rescue missions. Theseventeen white stars represent the State of Ohio, the 17th state admitted tothe Union. The crossed anchors areadapted from the Coast Guard Seal, and the light blue disc denotes ice rescueoperations.
